Swimming Time!!

We started swimming this week! The kids were super excited and could not wait. I had to notify them every 30 minutes until the time. They will be learning a lot of new things about swimming. They will also be learning about safety in the water. Here are some pictures of their latest swimming adventure!

Making Symm-Trees/Weather Books-Catch UP!

Here are some of the projects that we have been working on over the few days of school that we have had. We are currently working on a unit of fractions and shapes. We learned about how to determine if something is symmetrical. We made a "symm-trees" where we had to identify whether objects were symmetrical and if they were they hung from the tree. The objects that were not, were considered bad objects (fruits) and they fell from the tree. Here are some pictures from their projects! Here is a weather book written by Susan Hogan-First Grade Teacher at California Elementary(aligned with MO GLEs). Our students had the opportunity to work through this book.

Swimming

Our class will start swimming on Thursday. Please make sure that your child is prepared with a towel, bathing suit, hat for their heads, etc. You can have them place the stuff they need in a grocery bag and this will help them keep everything organized. Thank you! If you have any questions, please email me or post a comment on our blog.

Valentine's Day with Love Splat!

We did a lot of activities over the last several days on Love Splat. Splat is a cat that like Kitten. He wants to show her how much he likes her but Spike (the mean one!) likes Kitten, too! They have a little competition and Splat gets very sad because Spike makes the bigger card and draws the bigger heart. In the end, Splat is victorious and gets to see Kitten open the card. He also receives a card from Kitten showing him how much she likes her. This story is very cute! The students were able to sequence, explain what happened in the beginning and at the end, write a text-to-self connection of a time that they felt loved and infer with Splat throughout the book. They did an excellent job doing this and here are some examples of what they accomplished throughout this week!
